The Priory Group, well known for its work detoxing celebrities, is targeting indulgent financial services professionals in advertising campaign on alcohol abuse.
'Workers in the City are under enormous pressure to perform at peak levels, and many high achievers cope with the stress by using alcohol, cocaine or other substances,' Neil Brener, a psychiatrist with the hospital chain, told the Financial Times
Brener said some professionals were drinking the equivalent of 35-40 pints of beer a week. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), meanwhile, is now holding 26 meetings a week in the City. Ten years ago they were holding only 12 such meetings.
Alcohol abuse costs UK industry approximately £3.3bn annually, according to AA.
