Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone is questioning whether anyone is willing
to rescue Super Aguri, saying there are already ‘a lot of people walking around
with a begging bowl’.
PKF,
joint administrators of the small Japanese team, who plans to sell the business
as a going concern, claims to have received ‘several expressions of interest’,
according to sportinglife.com.
However, the Formula One chief , who is not prepared to save Super Aguri
himself, cannot see how any investor would be willing to spend a fortune in
resurrecting the now-defunct team.
‘I didn't want to put in $US100m, which is what was needed,’ he said. ‘For
somebody else it might have been okay, but it wasn't for me. If somebody could
properly fund it, then it would be good, but there are a lot of people walking
around with a begging bowl.’
