Now its campaign to preserve the dignity of workplace smokers, currently forced to skulk on street corners, enters a new phase. At the Labour Party Local Government Conference in Scarborough, Forest will unveil "Britain's bizarrest smoke-free zone ... a clean, clear and caring smoke-room". We can hardly wait, but it seems a far cry from the days when the Labour Party conducted all its business in smoke-filled rooms over beer and sandwiches. Oh Tony, what have you done?
