MCA opts for Big Change

[QQ]Big Change by Paul Taffinder has scooped this year's Management Consultancies Association business management book of the year award.[QQ] Picking up a prize of £5,000, the book was described by the judging panel as "inspirational" and "a wake up call" for the UK industry.[QQ] Taffinder was one of 10 authors shortlisted for the highly acclaimed award. Big Change, his second business book, looks at the big change efforts of more than 30 worldwide organisations. He develops a strategic and tactical route map to transform the companies and their way of thinking.[QQ] The judges, who included senior CEOs, consultants and academics, said: "This award could not be better deserved. Big Change was the best of a series of very strong entries. It is well researched with challenging case studies and is well written. This is an important book for business."[QQ] Three other books were strongly recommended from the shortlist, they were: Improving Market Effectiveness by Robert Shaw, Difference Engine by Anne Deering and Anne Murphy and E-Shock by Michel de Kare-Silver.[QQ] Will White, deputy director at the MCA said: "In a year when the award attracted a record number of entries of nearly 100 management books, it was particularly welcome to see so many titles by female authors."[QQ] The awards were sponsored by Management Consultancy magazine in tandem with business communications company Energis.
