The head of information technology at J Sainsbury who managed the supermarket's disastrous IT systems roll out is to be replaced in March by the director of European strategy at Asda.
Maggie Miller, who has been at the supermarket giant for four years and joined just months after the company signed a controversial outsourcing deal with Accenture, will be replaced by Angela Morrison, director of European strategy at US rival Asda.
Morrison was previously head of the Wal-Mart-owned supermarket's IT business.
A spokeswoman refused to say whether Miller had chosen to leave, but said that the company needed to 'drive the maximum benefits out of the IT it has and bring more accountability in-house'.
As previously reported in the October issue of Management Consultancy Sainsbury's is renegotiating its £1.7bn seven-year contract with Accenture.
Miller is not the first executive to leave Sainsbury's since the arrival of new chief executive Justin King earlier this year. Martin White, who headed the implementation of its ill-fated automated depots, left in September.
