RSS feedsFive days before the winning city for the 2012 Olympic Games is revealed, Atos Origin has announced the formal signing of a contract extension with the International Olympic Committee to become the IT systems integrator for the 2010 Olympic winter games in Vancouver, Canada, and the 2012 Olympic summer games.
Jacques Rogge, IOC president said the Olympic Games 'could not happen without the use of IT'.
'The IOC is delighted to extend its partnership with Atos Origin for a further four years to 2012. Our partnership is built on trust, knowledge and expertise, and we are confident that Atos Origin will do an outstanding job for the Torino 2006, Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010 and the 2012 Olympic Games,' Rogge added.
Bernard Bourigeaud, chairman and CEO of Atos Origin said he was 'proud of the long-term partnership' with the IOC and the Olympic movement.
'We fully embrace all the challenges associated with such an historic, highly visible and monumental event,' he said.
Atos Origin has on-site teams in Torino and Beijing preparing and testing Olympic IT systems.
The firm will be responsible for developing, running and securing key information systems for the games, including core games and workforce management, medical services, sport entries and athletes qualification, competition data and diffusion on the games' intranet as well as the internet.
