South Africa set for strong growth in call centre market

South Africa will become the second biggest offshore location for high-value
call centre services over the next two years, according to the South African
Contact Centre Community.
SACCCOM predicts that, by 2008, the country will have 80,000 call centre
seats, with 20% of agents doing offshore work, compared with 6% today.
The bullish prediction follows an agreement between SACCCOM and its Indian
equivalent NASSCOM.
Mfanu Mfayela, CEO of SACCCOM, said: ‘South Africa looks set to be the number
two offshore destination after India for UK business, and will capture a
significant share of high-quality work.’
Research analyst Datamonitor has predicted that the number of call centres in
South Africa will grow from the current 535 to as many as 939 by 2008.
