Since the Homeplug AV specification was launched back in 2006, we haven’t
seen any significant improvements in powerline networking.
Devolo
has followed the lead of other manufacturers by releasing an updated version of
its Homeplug AV device that we first saw in our group test (PCW, October 2007).
The only addition is a physical button next to the Lan port to facilitate
effective encryption.
Since most will be using them on a separate mains ring to their neighbours,
enhanced encryption isn’t totally necessary, but it does give peace of mind.
